World Series Game 7 Draws 51M Viewers Across the United States, Canada and Japan Regions.

The thrilling extended clash that saw the Dodgers overcome the Toronto Blue Jays by one run attracted a total 51 million spectators across the US, Canadian, and Japan territories. MLB stated this represents the highest-rated World Series Game 7 since the 1991 edition showdown between the Minnesota Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Breakdown

The Saturday epic game secured 27.33M viewers on Fox networks, Fox Deportes and Fox’s streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the previous week.

It also is the top-rated Fall Classic game since the 2017 final game involving the Dodgers and Astros, which averaged 29.07 million. This represents a sixteen percent improvement compared to the previous finale featuring the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros, which attracted 23.19 million viewers.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 ranked 4th, Game 4 ranked 7th, Game 5 came in eighth, and Game 3 landed in 13th position.

Global Viewership Numbers

In Canada, the game recorded 11.6M watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This made it the most-watched English broadcast in the country after the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the deciding contest began at 9 PM local time, it attracted 12 million. This came after the previous Friday’s Game 6 – in which World Series MVP Yamamoto allowed a single run in six frames – recorded over 13 million spectators, making it the highest-rated World Series game on a single network in the country.

Overall Totals and Patterns

The entire seven-match series averaged 15.71M viewers on the Fox network, a two percent rise from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This marks the initial instance since 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has seen audience increases for two consecutive years.

Including the opening game broadcast on Univision, the complete US average was 16.1 million. The overall Fall Classic viewership in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in Canada.

The full playoffs on Fox, FS1 and FS2 drew over 8 million watchers, an 8% increase compared to last year and the network’s strongest playoff performance after 2017.

MLB announced that the Fall Classic was broadcast in over 200 nations and regions by forty-four media partners in 16 different tongues.
